My husband and I got married this past July
and could not have done it without Mr. Hickey! He helped
complete our wedding and made it absolutely perfect. My
husband grew up a few houses down from him and his family so
he’s known him for years and always raved about the 'Hickey
family'.
After seeing Mr. Hickey marry his daughter in the
summer of 2008, we knew we HAD to have him marry us. He was
the ideal choice!
He came to our house to meet with us several times,
corresponded via email, and made every step of the way so
simple for us. Whatever we needed – he was there. He explained
things to us that we would have never known without him. He
was so easy going and did whatever we wanted but added his own
ideas and opinions when we needed them – which we did.
Our ceremony was beyond our wildest dreams perfect. We are
STILL getting compliments on our ceremony and officiant to
this day – 5 months later. What other people would never know
though was that he was also there for us before the ceremony
even started and during the reception too. He kept checking on
us and offered to help in any way he could. At one point in
time he was the one holding my veil for me while my friend
fixed my hair and pictures were being taken.
Amazing and
helpful are the two words I would use if I had to pick any. He
really is the nicest person we have ever met and helped make
our wedding the wedding we’ve always wanted and more. It
really is hard to put into words just how awesome he is and
how wonderful it was to have him marry us. We cannot thank him
enough!

We had a dream of having our Civil Partnership in NY, but
being from the UK we were struggling to arrange who would
marry us and where it would be, also the legal side was a
minefield. Just as we were about to give up we were given
Ben's telephone number.
As soon as we spoke to Ben we just connected on every level.
We talked about what we wanted to happen on our special day.
Ben explained how the US system worked, that we had to have a
witness with us to apply for the licence, we then had to be
resident in NYC for 72 hours before we could collect the
licence but after that we could have the ceremony anywhere
within the licence jurisdiction. As we were having a quiet
ceremony (only the two of us) our other problem Ben explained
was we needed two witnesses for the actual ceremony, as we
didn't know anybody in NYC Ben arranged for his daughter and
Son in law to be the witnesses, it was a real family affair!
Ben listened to our ideas and to the sort of locations we
wanted for the ceremony. Ben spent many hours looking for our
perfect spot to make the wedding day we wanted happen. He sent
us photos of the spots he thought we would like and we opted
for Maxwell Pier in Hoboken which has a Manhattan backdrop.
Ben took all the stress away, all we had to do was get on the
plane and make it to NYC.
Ben, we can never Thank You enough for making our wedding day
such a perfect day.
